Sustainability is a general term and usually used to represent things, practices, policies, habits, interpretation and so on, which is better than existing or last over time. Sustainability is meeting the needs of the present scenario in a refined and best way in comparison to previous one without compromising the ability of future.

One can understand and understate, the term sustainability as the ability of something to last for a longer period of time or something good from the existing one considering development based on technical, social, environmental and economic practices.

For example- at present you are having a car with good features, having acceptable price range, having good build up quality and having characteristics of good mileage as per your daily travelling distance, but; here, if by any of the efforts, materials, practices and designs, which consider technical activities like change in fuel pumping mechanism or body weight of the car or modifications in tyre size, change in structure and so on, if it is possible to increase the mileage of the car or any other desired prime requirement, then one can say that the car is now more sustainable in comparison to previous characteristics. Similarly, by employing any of the dimensions like social, technical, economic and environmental, one can induce sustainability aspects in the belongings, system, activities and so on. Thus one can admire

  1. Sustainability in daily activities attained by the persons by right identification, concentration and by way of making on making them easy in comparison to previous one.

  2. Sustainability in social stuffs and policies by making them universal accepted by all the peoples of the society.

  3. Sustainability in thinking by making it more technical, ecological and environmental basis or oriented.

  4. Sustainability in products by making them versatile with improved functionality.

  5. Sustainability in products by making them more competent, easy in execution, self maintainable in comparison to previous one.

  6. Sustainability in duties performing by workers and employees by making them more precise with the utility of electronic tools, refreshments, securities and so on.

  7. Sustainability in working atmosphere by utilizing the concept of reuse, reduce, reduce, re-thing, re-allocate and so on for true betterment.

  8. Sustainability in efforts by making the work easier to be done in less movement with decrease energy ergonomically.

  9. Sustainability in transport by making energy efficient vehicles, delivering controlling power, loading capacities and maintenance of dignified roads for good mileages in comparison to existing one.

  10. Sustainability in chairs by inducing more agronomical aspects towards providing comfort and safety in sitting and so on for a longer period of time.

  11. Sustainability in process by reducing number of steps of existing process with decreased time.

Sustainability focus on reference line for comparative analysis to define Improvements

As aforesaid, sustainability always demands a reference point or reference line for comparison. Means in the first instant one have to fix the line of comparison or comparison characteristics to identify and to declare the road of sustainability is achieving or not.

Like- if a company is selecting a person for field work and is required by the company to work for 8-10 hours in filed survey, in that case, a person with good physical characteristics in terms of length, fitness and so on seems to be a sustainable approach for selecting a person for deployment in comparison (reference) towards selecting a person based on more intellectual capabilities. In contrasts, if a company wants to select a person, who is good in calculation with good logical properties, in that case, the physical characteristics like length, fitness does not come up with the good choices for sustainability. Here, the intellectual property seems to be a more sustainable approach. Thus, one can say that sustainability varies from person to person, situation to situation, objective to objective and so on and relies on your objective of cost, distance, time and other things &specially demands dimensions and factors that can support in taking the decision related to your objective or choice. For example, if one has money, he prefers high speed train to save time and if someone has limited money, he prefers passenger train to save money irrespective of time he spends. If, money is the prime factors and time is the secondary factor, then passenger trains can induce sustainability and if time is the prime factors and money is the secondary factor, then fast trains can induce sustainability.
